Pfizer New Zealand is committed to making a positive impact in our community beyond the lifesaving and life-enhancing medicines we make. Since 1961 we have contributed significantly to the economic and social development of New Zealand and given back to the community through partnerships and philanthropic ventures.
Pfizer CARES is our program of Corporate Social Responsibility activities that encapsulates all our efforts. The program brings staff together, empowering us to improve the community we live and work in, both now, and into the future.
Pfizer CARES for the community through:
• Providing colleagues with one day of volunteering every year. Volunteering time has been spent supporting Variety – the Children’s Charity, Arthritis New Zealand, Operation Christmas Child, NZ Blood, Lifeline, Dementia carers and Bras for Fiji
• Distributing funds raised by colleagues through donations and fundraising initiatives
• Providing support to Variety – the Children’s Charity
Pfizer New Zealand also contributes grants towards healthcare professional education, as well as numerous patient group awareness, education and support programs.
Pfizer New Zealand’s charitable support is boosted by the additional efforts of our colleagues who use their volunteer days to also assist organisations. Colleagues are encouraged to use their volunteer day to service their local communities. In 2016, for example, colleagues spent a day caring for the Alzheimer carers in Christchurch which involved household chores such as cleaning and gardening.
